About the teacherS
Mrs. Clarke is our classroom assistant. She has been at OCSI for 7 years and she also serves as the after school coordinator. Students and parents relate to her very well since she has a student of her own at OCSI. She can speak Japanese as well as English! She is a very valuable asset to our team and we hope you get to know her just as well as you know the other two teachers.
Hello! My name is Mrs. Reid. It is my first year teaching here at OCSI, though I was a substitute teacher here last Spring. I really enjoyed getting to know the students from different age groups. I have worked previously with Preschool aged children and infants. I am so excited to welcome your children into our classroom and get to know them throughout the year!
Hi, my name is Mrs. Ikehara, this is my 9th year teaching K5 here in OCSI. Also, I served here as an After School Care Director for 3 years, and 2 years as an Office Assitant. I'm originally from the Philippines, and been here for 20 years. I'm married to a Japanese Pastor. I am very excited to partner with you in helping your child discover who they are and what they can do to nurture their giftings to find their purpose in life.
Thank you for entrusting your child to us and our school. We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child. It is going to be a Fantastic year! |

Teachers use The CAFE System to assess, instruct, and monitor student progress. It provides tools for constructing group and individual lessons that provide just-in-time instruction, ensuring that all students reach their potential. The system helps teachers
- establish and track the strengths and goals of each child by providing a structure for conferring;
- organize assessment data and use it to inform instruction;
- maximize time with students in whole-group, small-group, and one-on-one settings;
- create flexible small groups focused on specific reading needs;
- engage students, fostering ownership and accountability to reach goals; and
- develop a common language to talk about reading development and proficiency.
