We had a lot of fun this week in Kindergarten!
Your students have a behavior chart where they can move their clips up or down according to their behavior for that day. At the end of each day, Mrs. Reid will write down what color they ended the day on on a chart near the bathroom door.
If the students get green for 5 days, they can pick a coupon. If they get on blue, three times, they can get a coupon OR a prize from the prize box.
One of the coupons is "visit the principal for a positive visit". This coupon has Mr. Jernbergs face on it. This coupon is the students favorite so far. So many have chosen it, we had to have two separate groups of students go to his office! (see pictures).
We wanted to encourage the students to not feel like the principal's office was only a place where "bad" students go and to not view Mr. Jernberg as an enforcer, but rather as a friend. I think this strategy is working!

We will also have four themes going on in our classrooms for the next four weeks. We will be encouraging our students to live out the OCSI curriculum by being kind, hard-working, self-controlled, and respectful.
This first week we started a "Be kind" area on the white board and Mrs. Reid posted when she saw students being kind to one another with their names. Come in any time to see this weeks theme and see if your student has made it onto the wall! Often, the students will come up to me and tell me of the kind thing that they did.
It has made us very proud!
